INTRODDUCTION:
The course will cover geological data, gravity and magnetics data, well data, the creation of a synthetic seismogram, and how to use it for different interpretations. Also, the fundamentals of source rocks, migration of sedentary basin models, geodynamic models, and basin maturation will be taught to participants. Lastly, the course will provide in-depth explanations of how to apply these concepts and methods in the rift basin system. Together with the most up-to-date offshore and onshore seismic 2D and 3D data interpretation tools, comprehensive explanations of mapping and selecting horizons will be given. For development and exploration geologists, sedimentologists, seismic interpreters, and other experts interested in applying geological and seismic data for rift basin studies, the course will serve as a refresher and update.
What Kinds of Basins Exist?
A basin is a depression or dip in the surface of the ground. Typically, they have bowl-like shapes with higher sides than bottoms. They can also be rounded or oval, like a bathroom sink or tub. Any factors above or below the ground, such as erosion or earthquakes, can produce a basin. Others are empty, while some are full with water. River drainage basins, ocean basins, and structural basins are the three primary categories of basins. Areas that a river and its tributaries drain are known as river drainage basins. The several watersheds that make up a river’s drainage system are called river drainage basins. The largest depressions on the surface of the globe are ocean basins.
